Happy Friday!! It’s been a while since I’ve had a few minutes to do what I love — blogging. When we moved into our home four years ago, the previous owner had a much different decorating style than I did. I looked at it the living room the first time and wondered what I could do to fall in love with the space. I wanted it to reflect what I love. I wanted it to be a cozy and fun place for my family so I knew I wanted to give it a farmhouse living room makeover.
I’m starting with my living room. Here are a few pictures of how our home looked before we moved in.
As you can see, it was very formal. I loved the home, but it needed a loving touch. I wanted it to reflect all the things I love. So, with a little vision it started turning into fun little projects and I began to fall in love with my home.
This turned into…….
All the things I love. Chippy doors, tobacco basket, windows, neutral tones….
One of my first projects was this fireplace. The color and mantel were way off so I decided to paint it. See how I painted it Here
My hope is that even if this is not your style, this post can give you some inspiration to put your own personal touch on your space. I am having so much fun in the process!! Stay tuned for my kitchen before and after pictures! Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my farmhouse living room makeover!! Feel free to leave a question or a comment below! Have a beautiful weekend!!
I have just found your blog on instagram. Your living room is beautiful. Would you mind telling me where your sofas came from. I love them.
Thank you so much, Theresa!! I bought them last spring at Ikea. They are called Ektorp and I love them. I love the idea of a slipcover especially when you have dogs and kids. I would for sure recommend these couches!
Hey Theresa! Thank you so much for visiting! That means so much! Thank you for your sweet compliment! My living room sofas are from Ikea. They are called Ektorp. I love the couch but I am not satisfied with the slipcover. I love the color but it is beginning to ball up after only 5 months. So sad because I love the color.

Hey Carissa! I am very new to your blog. We just purchased an old farmhouse in Tennessee. Our cabin was destroyed in the Wildfires that raged through Gatlinburg in November 2016. After MONTHS of looking, we found our new place. Gosh, we has sooooo much work to do! It had been abandoned for two years and was left in deplorable condition by the owners. They were very dirty and extreme hoarders (and that’s being kind!). Anyway, I love everything about your style. It’s exactly the look I’m hoping to achieve! I do have a question…would you please share with me the colors you painted your den/family room. I love the wall color and trim. I had thought of going with white, but really love your choice much better!!! Thank you so very much!!! Kim Gladden
Hey Kim!! Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I am so very sorry to hear you were involved in the devastating wildfires. That is just horrible. I am glad to hear that you found another home and it sounds like it will be amazing. I bet it will look so beautiful when you guys are finished! I am so happy you like my style! That means so much to hear! Thank you! My living room paint color is called Lenox Tan by Benjamin Moore. It’s a very soothing and warm color. Good luck with everything! I would love to see pictures when you guys are finished!

Where did your living room rug come from?
I love everything about this room!!! What a transformation.
Thank you so much!! I actually bought it at a store called Old Time Pottery. Not sure if you have one of those but they get random rugs in so you never know what they will have. Good luck with your search!!
Hello, where did you get the metal planters on each side of your tobacco basket?
Hi!! I actually got them at a flea market type of show. They are old well buckets. The long and skinny ones are hard to find so I got super excited when I found them. Good luck with your search!!
Where did you get the tobacco basket from?
I currently sell them in my Bless This Nest Booth. You can click on the ‘My Booths’ tab and see where I am located. Thanks!
Thank you for the info. I am 4 hours away from Nashville, so I don’t think I could make it to one of your booths.
Not sure if this is a old post, but I absolutely love your style, and the makeover over your living room. Would you share more makeover rooms you have done in your house. Also what was the color of the trim, or whitish color you used as a accent. Thank you so much!!!
Hey Melinda!! I appreciate your sweet comment! I love sharing my house makeovers so I may share another room I had made over. I am so glad you like to see that! My living room color is called Lenox Tan by SW and my kitchen is called Garden Wall by Behr. I am not sure about the trim color bc it was already painted when we moved in. Thank you so much for visiting my blog!!
