Happy Friday!! It’s been a while since I’ve had a few minutes to do what I love — blogging. When we moved into our home four years ago, the previous owner had a much different decorating style than I did. I looked at it the living room the first time and wondered what I could do to fall in love with the space. I wanted it to reflect what I love. I wanted it to be a cozy and fun place for my family so I knew I wanted to give it a farmhouse living room makeover.
I’m starting with my living room. Here are a few pictures of how our home looked before we moved in.
As you can see, it was very formal. I loved the home, but it needed a loving touch. I wanted it to reflect all the things I love. So, with a little vision it started turning into fun little projects and I began to fall in love with my home.

Thank you so much, Theresa!! I bought them last spring at Ikea. They are called Ektorp and I love them. I love the idea of a slipcover especially when you have dogs and kids. I would for sure recommend these couches!

I love the couch but I am not satisfied with the slipcover. I love the color but it is beginning to ball up after only 5 months. So sad because I love the color.
Hey Carissa! I am very new to your blog. We just purchased an old farmhouse in Tennessee. Our cabin was destroyed in the Wildfires that raged through Gatlinburg in November 2016. After MONTHS of looking, we found our new place. Gosh, we has sooooo much work to do! It had been abandoned for two years and was left in deplorable condition by the owners. They were very dirty and extreme hoarders (and that’s being kind!). Anyway, I love everything about your style. It’s exactly the look I’m hoping to achieve! I do have a question…would you please share with me the colors you painted your den/family room. I love the wall color and trim. Hello, where did you get the metal planters on each side of your tobacco basket?
Hi!! I actually got them at a flea market type of show. They are old well buckets. The long and skinny ones are hard to find so I got super excited when I found them. Good luck with your search!!
