So, I’m sharing some exciting news…..I finally finished my giant wood clock DIY!! If you watch my stories on Instagram , I’ve been sharing the process with you guys, and I’ve had so much fun doing it. It was actually super easy to make if you have all the right tools. I did not make mine a working clock but rather for decor purposes only. I have been on the lookout for a large antique clock after I spotted this one in Joanna Gaine’s living room a couple years back. See, isn’t it amazing?! I figured I would probably have no such luck finding a gorgeous antique clock like that, so I set my sights on making one. I lucked up and found this huge wood piece (no clue what it actually is) at the Country Living Fair here in Nashville. My final result is not nearly as gorgeous as Joanna’s, but I do love how it turned out. So, let me show you how simple this project really was to make.
Materials for Wood Clock DIY:
Round Base
Paint (optional)
This wood piece really is HUGE. Mine measures a little over 5 feet tall.
The first step is painting. Of course, that is optional depending on what your base looks like. Although I loved the natural wood, I though my numbers would stand out better against a white background. I wanted a weathered look so I just lightly brushed paint on it so some wood would show through.
Next, I ordered these 6 inch roman numerals from Etsy. They are already perfectly rusty and so perfect for what I was looking for.
The last step is simply placing your numbers down and getting them exactly how you like it. Then, just add Gorilla Glue to the back and wait a couple of hours for it to dry.
I might add that you need a huge wall for it to go on. Luckily, I had the perfect space for it in my entryway. I just love how it looks in here. It makes a pretty big statement right when you walk into my home.

So easy, right? That’s it for for my wood clock DIY. My favorite thing to do is find some inspiration and try to recreate something unique and inexpensive. This project cost me around $85 to make. Now, my question for you is, should I KEEP it or SELL it? What do you think??

Hi Donna!! I am so happy you like my clock! I would look at flea markets, thrift store, or yard sales. Look for old round table tops. I am not sure what my piece was originally but I have seen round table tops that would look exactly the same when painted. Good luck on your search!!
