Can you believe Halloween is only a few days away? It totally snuck up on me this year, so I am a little late getting out my Halloween decor. The good news is that I like to keep my Halloween decor cute and simple, so decorating in a hurry isn’t a big deal. Today, I am so excited to show you the simplest Halloween DIY bat sign that only took me about an hour to make, and it turned out so cute! The best part is that this simple DIY only cost me around $20! That’s the best kind of DIY! Budget friendly and oh so cute! So, let’s get started with what you need to begin your simple Halloween bat sign.
All you need for this project is a sign you aren’t using anymore, some stick on bats, black and white paint, paint brushes, and some painter’s tape.
Step 1- Paint Your Sign
First, you will need a sign that you aren’t using anymore. I found mine on the clearance rack at Kirkland’s for around $12, or you can use one that has been tucked away in your closet. Make sure the size is right for your space before you begin painting. Then, start painting the background white. Of course, you can use any color, but I love the classic black and white color pallet for this project. Apply 2-3 coats of white paint and allow it to dry.
Step 2- Paint The Frame
After your background is completely dry, use your painter’s tape to tape off your frame. Now, paint the frame black and allow it to dry.
I decided to layer my sign with this cute Trick Or Treat sign from Kirkland’s, so I painted the frame black to match my DIY bat sign.
Step 3- Add The Stick On Bats
After your sign is completely dry, now it’s time to apply your stick on bats. You can find the ones that I used HERE. I started at the bottom with the larger bats and added the smaller bats to the top and also above the sign. Love how simple it is to give it the affect of the bats coming out of the sign.
Look how cute it turned out! I decided to style it on my kitchen shelves, and love how it looks in this space!
I added some wheat and a couple of crows for a simple Halloween vignette! See, I told you Halloween decor can be simple and cute at the same time!
