Happy Saturday sweet friends!! Today is the day! I’m so excited to be sharing a big change in my master bedroom, and I hope you love it as much as I do. I did something a little daring for this neutral loving girl and decided to go moody in my bedroom. I was itching for a change in there and couldn’t decide between painting my headboard or adding a different wallpaper. In the end, I went with painting my shiplap headboard a darker color and couldn’t love it anymore! So, are you ready to see the changes? First, let me remind you what my bedroom looked like before the change.
I loved my neutral bedroom, but I was ready for a change. Since the headboard is the focal paint of my room, I knew that would be the best way to make a bold and beautiful change. I can’t wait to share with you my shiplap headboard reveal! So, let’s get to it!
Moody Shiplap Headboard Reveal
Hello moody headboard!! Ahhh, I still can’t believe I did it but so happy I took that chance to go darker. I decided to paint my shiplap headboard Cracked Pepper by Behr, and I just love this color!!
Shiplap Headboard Details
This gorgeous headboard came from Chic Artique. To add to the headboard makeover, I added these brass and wicker sconces that look so beautiful against the darker color of the headboard. The headboard also has switches on each side with plugs, USB hookups, and a dimmer to control the brightness of the sconces. Chic Artique made it custom to fit my space and they can also paint it any color that you wish. This headboard is for sure my favorite part of our room!
Rug Details
I also added this rug from Boutique Rugs, and it just might be my favorite rug that I have gotten from them. It’s called the Birdwood Area Rug, and I just love how the pops of grey and charcoal throughout the design match the color of my headboard so well. You can see more details on this rug HERE, and don’t forget to use code NEST60 at checkout for 60% off!
I added this abstract picture from Target’s Studio McGee line, and I just love how it pulls the room together.
The last change I made in here was the bedding. I added a white linen bedspread, a quilt, and some new throw pillows. I also added a couple of wood ottomans to the foot of the bed. They are so beautiful and help give this space a simple and modern look that I was going for! You can find the bedding and ottomans linked at the end of this post.
So, that’s a wrap on my master bedroom refresh. I hope you love all of the changes that I made in here. Although the changes were small, the impact was really big. It feels like a completely different room. By only changing the color of the headboard, it gave my room a completely different feel, and I could’t love it more! So, what was your favorite part of the makeover? Let me know in the comments. I always love hearing from you! Thanks so much for stopping by!

I like all your bedroom changes but I really think I liked it the way it was before. Guess it’s because I like lighter neutral colors. But it is lovely.

Thank you! I loved it the way it was before too, but I was just itching for a new look.

Where is the round basket from that’s above your dresser? There’s no link in the sources, and it’s the one thing that i want to buy.
carissa says
Hi Jackie! The basket came from Pottery Barn but unfortunately it’s no longer available. So sorry!

Hey quick question! I’ve been looking at this rug and love the pattern, but I’m unsure about which color to choose. Your room color palette is the same as ours, so I’m hoping to snag the same one. Did you get the Birdwood or the Birdwoody? Your pictures are listed with the Birdwoody on Boutique Rugs but you list it as the Birwood here. Thanks, in advance!
carissa says
Hi Lindsay! Thank you so much for your question! This one is the Birdwood, so not sure why they have it down as the Birdywood. I’ll reach out to them and let them know. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I adore this rug so hopefully you will too. If you use my link, I just got an updated code for 62% off instead of 60%. Use cade NEST62 at checkout. Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Love your bedroom. So warm and inviting. I love a little black in all my rooms. It’s very grounding and is a good neutral. Where did you find the gigantic basket on the wall over your dresser?
Alana Balcius says
I love the update-it’s beautiful. Can you share the name of you wall paint color?
carissa says
Thank you so much! It’s Alabaster by SW.
