Happy Sunday! It’s that time of year when we get happy mail in the form of Christmas cards. I seriously LOVE me some Christmas cards!!! I get so excited when they start arriving in the mailbox. It’s one of my daughters favorite thing to do when she gets home from school. She heads straight to check the mail to see if we received any cards. We love displaying these in our home. It’s a really sweet and personal Christmas decoration. There are seriously countless ways to display them in your home, but we just keep it simple around here. In this post I’ll show you how to create a quick Christmas card holder DIY.
Materials Needed
All you need is some burlap twine and small clothes pins. Stores are full of adorable clothes pins. I prefer the smaller ones because they hold the card easier without covering up the picture. I bought mine at the Target dollar spot. $3 Christmas decoration for the win!!!!
Hanging the Cards
We begin with hanging up two rows of twine on an old chippy window that I have in my hallway. Most of you probably don’t have an old window just hanging in your home so you can hang your twine anywhere.
Ideas: from your mantel, on a chalkboard, the top of a doorway, across a ladder, from a hutch or bookshelf, on a blank wall, etc.
You get the idea. Just get creative. You can drape your twine anywhere in your home.
I keep the clothes pins on the table, and every time we get a new one, my kids take turns hanging them on the twine. The best part about doing this is that you can add as many as you want. I could add another row or move them closer together. Super simple and my kids love it!
Easy peasy, right? Like I said, it’s nothing fancy but it’s super cute and adds a personal touch and some color to my hallway. The cool part about this simple project is that you can actually keep it out all year. You can change your clothes pins to the wood ones and display family pictures, notes, or artwork from your kids. You seriously can’t beat a useful and fun decoration for your home for under $5.

So much prettier than the scotch tape usually used.
