My baby boy finally has a room….9 months later! I’m soooo excited to finally get to share this attic bedroom conversion reveal with you guys. It’s been a hard but super fun project to work on. We desperately needed a room for our precious surprise baby that we had last July. Our home is a three bedroom house and my older children, ages 11 and 7, weren’t exactly excited about sharing a room with a newborn. So, he stayed in our room until we could come up with a solution. We thought about adding a room on, but in the end, finally decided that converting our walk-in attic into a bedroom was our best solution. Although it did mean losing our storage, I could totally deal with that in order for our baby to have his very own space.
After we decided the attic would soon be his bedroom, my goal was to turn this kinda creepy and cold space into a happy and fun room for him to grow up in. I wanted simple decor that could easily grow with him. I am not afraid to mix textures and metals. I threw together a mood board to help inspire the room and the direction I wanted to go in.
Nursery Plan
So, let’s begin with the kinda creepy attic. This space was FILLED to the brim. Honestly, the biggest challenge was cleaning it out. We hired a contractor to add a window and finish out this room. I am so happy with the end result!

So much better, right?? This room exceeded all of my expectations. We added this awesome grey pine shiplap wood from Home Depot for our focal point wall and some fun galvanized barn lights to the wall. Since the space is pretty small, we thought lights on the wall was a great space saver and added something special to that wall.
The other fun idea I had was to add some pipe shelves for toys to one of the pony walls. We were going to add some built-ins to this wall but decided a much cheaper solution would be to add the pipe shelves. I am so glad we went with these. I also used the same grey pine barn wood for the shelves to tie everything together. In all, the pipe shelves cost around $175. Check out my pipe shelf DIY for more details on that project.
I had so much fun decorating this shelf and adding cute and functional storage. Everything on the shelves came from Hobby Lobby. One stop shopping at its best!!
I kept my color scheme to black, white, and grey. I chose to paint the walls Dove White by Sherwin Williams. It just may be the perfect white.

The back corner of the nursery has a small space that I thought was perfect for a little reading nook. We have already spent my nights reading books in this little corner. He loves it already!
The cute wall art also came from Hobby Lobby. It is so fun and simple and it just so happen to fit in this room perfectly!!
I honestly can’t tell you how happy I am that we finally have a space for my sweet boy to sleep and play in. He loves this room so much, and honestly, I think he knows it’s all his. He just gives us the biggest grin when he enters the room.
I really hope you enjoyed our little tour of our attic bedroom conversion. I had so much fun putting this space together for him. Below, I listed all of the room sources. Please let me know what you think of Drake’s little room, and as always, let me know if you have any questions!

Love the room! It’s the sweetest of designs. Perfect for the little guy but a great space for him to grow in to. You hit it out of the park.

Please don’t get mad but if I was little and saw the face if the wolf I thinkk it would scare me!!!

Tina says
So awesome! What did y’all do about heating and cooling this room?
carissa says
Thank you, Tina! We have a wall unit on the left side of the wall. It isn’t pretty so I strategically cut it out of all of the photos. It does work great though and keeps the room super cool.

This is just adorable! I love the color scheme and the mixture of textures. Do you have a source for the cross quilt hanging over the crib? I tried to use the room sources button but it didn’t work for me. Thank you!
carissa says
Hi Barbara! So glad you like the nursery! Thank you for your sweet compliment! The quilt is from Target, and it’s still available.
