Creating a warm and inviting entryway is the first step to welcoming guests into your home. It’s the first impression people get of your home and it’s important to make it a positive one. I recently found a piece of Studio McGee wall art that I fell in love with and was so excited to see how it looked in my entryway. I also went shopping in my back-up decor closet and decided to give my entry more of a simple spring look. Today, I’ll be sharing my entry refresh along with some tips for creating a welcoming entryway that will make your guests feel at home the minute the walk in your home.
1. Keep It Clean and Clutter-Free
A cluttered entryway can be overwhelming and uninviting. Take the time to clear out any shoes, coats, and bags that may be lying around. Make sure the area is also free of dirt and debris, and that the floor is swept or vacuumed. It may sound a little excessive, but I literally vacuum my entryway area everyday in order to make this space feel clean and inviting.
If you have to keep shoes or coats in the area, consider baskets and a coat wrack to keep the area looking nice and organized.
2. Add Lamps
Good lighting is essential in any entryway. Whether it’s a chandelier, pendant light, or sconce, make sure the lighting is bright enough to see, but not so bright that it’s harsh or uncomfortable. You can also add a table lamp or other decorative lighting to create a warm, cozy atmosphere.
These white lamps are from the Studio McGee line at Target, and I just love how they look on my entryway table. I have moved these around to almost every room in my house because they are so versatile.
3. Add Greenery
Adding some greenery to your entryway can make it feel fresh and alive. Choose plants or flowers that are easy to care for and that fit with the style of your home. If you don’t have a green thumb, consider artificial plants or flowers that still add a touch of nature to the space. I added this faux plant to my favorite Anthropologie pot and love how real it looks!
If you have room, you can also consider adding a tree to your entryway. I added this pretty faux Gypsophila Leaf Tree and love how it added some more greenery to this space.
4. Add A Focal Point
Add a focal point to your entryway that reflects your personality and style. This could be a piece of artwork, a mirror, a family photo, or a decorative item that you love.

5. Add A Rug Or Runner
A rug or runner is a simple but effective way to make your guests feel welcome. Choose a rug that fits the style of your home and add a touch of personality with a fun design. I chose this neutral geometric runner called the Malilinao Rug that is simple but so pretty. Love how it looks in my entryway!
